North Kirklees MIND Counselling ServiceABOUT COUNSELLING
Most people can benefit from counselling. Counselling can do for the mind what exercise does for the body. It can liven you up, help you to think more flexibly, make you stronger emotionally and help stop more serious problems from occurring.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING This is an opportunity to be listened to while you talk about whatever is bothering you. Counselling tends to focus on current problems with the counsellor helping you to find the best way to tackle them. It is important to tell the counsellor about other professionals you may be seeing. i.e. psychologist or psychiatrist. SOME TYPES OF PROBLEMS Many people feel that any form of emotional distress is a weakness or inadequacy. The truth is very different: It is not your fault if you experience emotional difficulties and it takes courage to face up to them and find better ways of coping.
WHO YOU WILL SEE All MIND counsellors are trained in some form of counselling. You may be asked if you mind seeing a counsellor who is in their final year of training as this may hasten your appointment. All MIND counsellors work within the Code of Ethics and Practice shown on the back of this leaflet
